Maxwell Boadi was born in Accra in 1982 and graduated from Ghanatta College of Arts and Design with a Diploma in Fine Arts in 2004. He continues to live and work in Accra.
Boadi’s bold, adventurous practice demonstrates an artistic maturity that distinguishes him among his peers. Drawing inspiration from his immediate environment and the people around him, he explores diverse themes, from portraits of friends and neighbors to meditations on his Christian faith and the evolving urban landscape of Accra. His energetic, vibrant palette infuses each subject with vitality and immediacy.
Working primarily with palette knives, Boadi has developed a distinctive visual language that reflects his artistic philosophy: that art is everything, and everything that exists can be art.
